Itinerary

7 hoursST. Kitts Mount Liamuiga Volcano

You’ll meet the guide at the Port or the lobby of your accommodation to start with this unique St. Kitts Hiking. After the greeting, you will board a comfortable vehicle for the 45-60 minute drive to the hiking site. Along the way, you will see many highlights and sights, including Brimstone Hill Fortress, in the distance. Your destination is easy to spot as it is the highest point on St. Kitts Island at more than 3,700 ft. – Mount Liamuiga and its volcano. No fears, the extinct volcano last erupted over 1,800 years ago. The emotional rainforest hiking journey takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours to the top. Your guide knows the trails by heart and will assist you the entire way. The lower slope is relatively moderate. When you reach 1,000 ft, the landscape changes into a lush rainforest where the tree canopies will shade most of the rest of your hike. It is a good idea to have a light jacket. You’ll hike past the Viney banyan trees, and all should keep watch in the canopy for the vervet monkeys playing. Your hiking guide will be giving you information about the area, including the plants and animals of the rainforest. The last 790 ft is where the hiking gets slightly harder; tree roots and rocks will climb over. The trail will be steeper. At the summit, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of the mile-wide volcano crater as well as of Nevis and neighbouring Lesser Islands. A complimentary light snack of homemade pastries and tropical fruits will help you recoup before heading back. The hike down is a lot easier, with stops along the way to enjoy the peaceful silence and the gorgeous natural landscape. The walk down is approximately 2 hours. After around 7 hours, your guide will drop you at the cruise port or the accommodation point in Sait Kitts
