Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Port Moresby

Arrive at Jacksons International Airport in Port Moresby, where you will be met and greeted by your tour guide and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, visit the National Museum and Art Gallery to learn about Papua New Guinea’s rich cultural heritage. Continue with a city orientation tour around Port Moresby, offering an introduction to the capital’s main landmarks and atmosphere. After the tour, return to the Hilton Hotel for overnight accommodation.

Day 2Port Moresby – Tari

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight from Port Moresby to Tari, marking the beginning of your Highlands adventure. Upon arrival in Tari, you will be welcomed by a local guide and transferred to Ambua Lodge. In the afternoon, enjoy a short familiarization tour around Tari town, providing an introduction to the local environment and culture. Overnight stay at Ambua Lodge.

Day 3Tari – Cultural Experience (Full Day Tour)

Spend a full day experiencing the unique culture of the Huli people. The tour features traditional performances and storytelling, including the famous Huli Wigmen performance. Guests will also witness a Fortune Teller experience, cavemen cultural presentations, widow women storytelling, and bachelor boys performing near a scenic waterfall. The day concludes with another impressive Huli Wigmen performance at the waterfall before returning to Ambua Lodge for overnight accommodation.

Day 4Tari – Mount Hagen

After breakfast, depart for Mount Hagen by a 25-seater coaster bus. The journey offers spectacular views of Papua New Guinea’s Highlands, including mountains, forests, villages, and lively local markets along the route. Upon arrival in Mount Hagen, transfer to your hotel and relax after the scenic drive. Overnight stay in Mount Hagen.

Day 5Mount Hagen – Cultural & Nature Tour (Full Day)

Enjoy a full day exploring the cultural and natural highlights around Mount Hagen. Visit the Melpa Cultural Dancers and experience traditional dressing, face painting, sing-sing performances, and vibrant cultural dances. The dancers will also perform at a nearby waterfall. The tour continues with visits to coffee and tea plantations, as well as nearby villages and local markets. Later, visit the Komblo Tribe to witness a flute man’s welcoming melody, a tribal fighting demonstration over land disputes, and a showcase of Jiwaka traditional dress. Overnight stay in Mount Hagen.

Day 6Mount Hagen – Mindima Skeleton Men Village (Simbu Province)

Travel by bus for approximately one hour and thirty minutes to Mindima Skeleton Men Village in Simbu Province. Along the journey, enjoy scenic views of beautiful landscapes, gardens, villages, rivers, and vibrant local markets. Upon arrival, experience cultural performances by the famous Skeleton Men, including demonstrations by insect hunters, courtship dances, and the energetic dust shakers performance. Overnight stay at Mindima Skeleton Lodge.

Day 7Mindima Skeleton Men Village – Asaro Mudmen Village

Continue the journey by bus for about one hour and thirty minutes to Asaro Mudmen Village. Along the way, enjoy views of Mount Wilhelm, the highest mountain in Papua New Guinea, as well as mountain villages, people harvesting bush fruits, and breathtaking landscapes. Stop for a short break at a coffee forest where you can enjoy freshly brewed coffee and visit a local coffee factory, with an opportunity to purchase fresh coffee. Upon arrival at the village, experience the legendary Mudmen Dance and Mokomoko Dance, hear the fascinating story of the Mudmen’s origin, and visit the Mudmen mountain cave. Overnight stay at the Mudmen Lodge.

Day 8Goroka – Madang (Overland Tour)

Depart by bus for Madang with a security escort. The scenic drive offers several stops for photography, including visits to local markets and viewpoints overlooking mountain landscapes and the transition from Highlands to coastal scenery. Upon arrival in Madang, transfer to your resort and relax. If time permits, enjoy a short waterfront tour featuring Kalibobo Lighthouse and views of World War II bunkers and shipwreck sites. Overnight stay at Madang Resort.

Day 9Madang Tour – Island Hopping & Snorkelling Tour

Enjoy a full-day island hopping and snorkelling adventure in the Bismarck Sea. Travel by boat to explore beautiful coral reefs, ideal for snorkelling and marine discovery. Visit traditional fishing villages, learn about local coastal life, and relax on pristine sandy beaches. Return to the resort in the afternoon and spend the evening at leisure. Overnight stay at Madang Resort.

Day 10 Madang – Port Moresby (Departure)

Fly from Madang back to Port Moresby. Upon arrival at Jacksons International Airport, you will be met and assisted for your onward travel. If time allows before your departure flight, enjoy optional activities such as bird watching at Adventure Park or a visit to the World War II War Memorial Cemetery. Afterwards, transfer to the airport for your final departure.
