Arrive at the protected wetland area and receive a short introduction to the park, its mangrove ecosystem and responsible wildlife-viewing guidelines.

Follow the boardwalk into the mangrove wetland. Your guide explains the role of mangroves in coastal protection and their importance as habitat and nursery grounds for marine life. The park is recognized as an important educational site for understanding Bahamian wetlands.

Spend time quietly observing the wetland environment for birds, fish and other wildlife. Bonefish Pond can provide opportunities to see more than 50 bird species, with conditions and seasonal sightings varying throughout the year.

Learn how the mangrove roots create shelter and nursery habitat for marine animals. Depending on conditions, guests may observe fish and other small aquatic species around the wetland.

Optional add-on, subject to tide, weather, park conditions and equipment availability: paddle through suitable mangrove waterways with a guide. High tide can provide opportunities to kayak through the mangrove system.

Take a short break, enjoy refreshments and photograph the surrounding landscape.

Depart Bonefish Pond and return toward Nassau.
