Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Alotau

Upon arrival in Alotau, guests are transferred to their accommodation and introduced to the town’s coastal charm. The day includes a relaxed exploration of local markets and the waterfront. In the evening, guests may attend a traditional Wagawaga dance performance for an authentic cultural welcome.

Day 2 and 3Kenu & Kundu Canoe Festival

These two days are dedicated to the vibrant Kenu and Kundu Canoe Festival. Guests experience traditional canoe racing across the bay, accompanied by powerful kundu drum performances. The festival showcases Wagawaga sing-sing dances, storytelling, and elaborate traditional costumes and masks. Visitors also explore local food stalls and handicraft markets, making this a lively and immersive cultural highlight.

Day 4Village Cultural Immersion (Gadudu, Boianai, Wagawaga Villages)

Guests visit a local village where they participate in traditional cooking and sago preparation while learning from elders through storytelling and oral history. The day includes hands-on craft and weaving activities and concludes with an evening cultural dance and sing-sing performance

Day 5 Village Life Experience & Optional Homestay

This day allows for a deeper connection with village life. Guests engage in daily routines such as gardening, fishing, or food preparation alongside locals. Day 6 Island Hopping & Snorkelling Adventure (Doini, Boagis, Egum Atoll)

Guests embark on a full-day island hopping adventure, visiting Doini Island, Boagis Island, and Egum Atoll. Activities include snorkelling, swimming in crystal-clear waters, and relaxing on untouched beaches. A picnic lunch or beach BBQ enhances the island experience, with optional visits to small island communities.

Day 7East Cape Drive, WWII Historical Tour & Kula Ring Experience

This day combines history and culture. Guests explore WWII memorials and battlefields, visit skull caves and sacred sites, and enjoy a scenic coastal drive along East Cape. The experience also includes an introduction to the Kula Ring trading system, with demonstrations and storytelling about traditional exchange networks. A cultural lunch with locals may be included.

Day 8: Milne Bay Water Adventures & Departure

On the final day, guests enjoy light water-based activities such as kayaking, paddleboarding, or a short snorkelling session in calm bays. Alternatively, a guided mangrove tour or fishing experience can be arranged. Afterward, guests are transferred for departure, concluding the tour.
